Continual Glucose Monitoring FAQs

How does continual glucose monitoring work?

The FreeStyle Libre 3 is a small, easy-to-apply wearable device that tracks your glucose levels minute-by-minute. One monitor lasts for 14 days and is applied to the back of your upper arm. The data gained from the sensor is shared via a user-friendly mobile app, which keeps you and your AVIVA team updated on your glucose levels, insights, and trends.

After the monitoring session(s), together we will review results, discuss insights, and determine any areas for improvement to keep your glucose levels healthy in the long term.

What should I expect from the continual glucose monitoring program? How long does it take?

We generally recommended starting with two 14-day periods of CGM for this program, where we meet to review each 14-day session.

After the first two 14-day periods, we will discuss next steps and check-in suggestions.

Do I need to provide my own CGM sensor or can I obtain one through AVIVA?

We offer CGM monitors at AVIVA or we can write a prescription so you can get yours through your local pharmacy.

I’m not sure if this is the right thing for me. How do I know?

Continual glucose monitoring can help anyone looking for personalized health data to understand how their body reacts to food, fasting, and exercise.  It can also help those experiencing frequent blood sugar issues or concern about their overall health. We encourage you to schedule a complimentary consultation to discuss your concerns to determine if this program is right for you.

How much does the continual glucose monitoring program cost?

You can view our CGM program specific fee schedule above. The cost of a sensor varies, but we do offer an initial promotion to get 2 sensors for under $100 from your pharmacy. Limitations apply.

Can I use insurance for the CGM device?

You may submit the costs to your insurance, but coverage is not guaranteed. Most cases depend on the insurance and if someone’s health level is in range to qualify for covereage.
